International Guild of Musicians in Dance

When is the conference?

The dates of the 25th Anniversary Conference of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance are October 8-11, 2015. We are co-convening the conference with the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). October 7th is reserved for pre-conference intensives for the conference, which are sponsored by NDEO. Participants pay an extra fee to attend these pre-conference intensives.

Where is the conference?

The conference is being held at the

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort

11111 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020

You can register for the hotel at the link above. See the hotel website for information about rooms, restaurants, amenities, etc. at the resort. Be sure to indicate to the reservation agent that you are registering to attend the NDEO conference.

You can certainly stay at another hotel if you wish, but you will be responsible for providing your own transportation to the resort. You should know that while this resort is in the middle of Phoenix, it is in the middle of the desert. The nearest businesses are at least 2 miles away.

Why are we co-convening with NDEO?

There are many advantages to co-convening the conference with NDEO. While the professional, philosophical and pedagogical reasons may be obvious; there are financial and organizational reasons as well.

NDEO negotiates with the hotel for pricing discounts on the rooms, fees, food events, conference space and technical support. NDEO must meet a minimum number for rooms, food and beverages in order to receive discounts. By partnering with NDEO, the Guild membership is able to take advantage of these discounts. In addition, the Guild membership then assists NDEO in meeting the minimum number requirements that have been negotiated with the hotel.

For instance:

  • The hotel price ($129.00 plus tax) is outstanding for a four-star resort at this time of year in the Phoenix area.
  • We do not have to pay the resort fee.
  • Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort.
  • The conference booklet is designed and printed by NDEO. We are able to take advantage of the reduced printing costs for a large order.
  • As long as the minimum numbers for rooms, food and beverages are met, we receive a discount for those items. In addition, there are no fees for the use of the conference rooms or technical support.
