In conjunction with the 20th anniversary conference of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance, there will be a concert of works written for dance that stand alone as musical art works. These works will be performed either by students from the prestigious University of Arizona School of Music or by conference participants. The concert will be Friday, January 15, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the award winning Stevie Eller Dance Theatre.

Guidelines for submission
1.    The work submitted may not be more than 10 minutes and must have been presented as dance score.
2.    Instrumentation must be for solo instruments, voice, and small chamber, jazz, pop ensembles ONLY. No works larger than an octet will be considered. Electronic works may be considered. Instrumentation may include guitar, voice, harp, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, harpsichord, or synthesizer.
3.    Composers may submit their work on CD or via email in MP3 format. If submitting a CD, you must also submit a score. If submitting via email, please submit a PDF file of the score.
4.    Performers of works written specifically for dance may submit their work on CD or via email in MP3 format. Examples of such works may include works by such dance luminaries as Louis Horst, Aaron Copland, Lou Harrison, or etc.
5.    Composers and performers must be members of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance.
6.    Composers should submit a one-page resume and a list of compositions, with the music written for dance highlighted.
7.    Performers should submit a one-page resume and a list of performances, with the performances for dance highlighted.
8.    Deadline for submission is August 1, 2010. Composers will be notified by August 15, 2009. Please submit to Suzanne Knosp at sknosp@email.arizona.edu. An independent panel of musicians will review the submissions. Selections will be based on adherence to the guidelines, programming, and availability of instrumentation. Composers and performers must be available for rehearsal in the Stevie Eller Theatre during the day on Friday, January 15, 2010.
